Importing eml files into Outlook 2010

I have a laptop running Windows 7 and Office 2010.

I have a large number of emails I have exported from Thunderbird and saved in the eml format.

I would like to import these into Outlook 2010. Can this be done and, if so, how?

I have seen several posts re importing them first into Windows Live Mail and then into Outlook but I do not want the hassle of installing Windows Live Mail just to do this.

You can simply drag an .eml file into any open Outlook Window and it should be able to open it. DIY.
