Imprecise Mouse - Issue in games and Windows 7

Hi everyone,

So for probably coming up to 2 years I have had a very strange and annoying issue regarding my mouse, the strange thing is suddenly something changed with the feel of all of my mice I own or have tried. Now I play a lot of first-person shooter games so accuracy is key to me, but the problem also spills on to general desktop use; what I mean by this is that even trying to "aim" to close a window seems inaccurate or imprecise.

It doesn't seem to matter what set up I use any mouse or mousepad still feels pretty much the exact same.

It is very hard to describe the issue but it feels either floaty, laggy too fast or too slow, I just can't seem to get 100% precision like everyone else can even. The current mouse I am using is the Mad Catz RAT3, I have tried installing and uninstalling the drivers for it and no joy.

I have tried different DPI settings, video card drivers, V-sync options, resolutions, mouse fixes (MarkC), it seems like I am running out of ideas but whatever the cause is it seems to be very annoying but small as well.

It either seems like a Windows 7 setting or conflicting hardware, whatever it is I would truly love to fix it and get back to just using my PC normally and gaming to a better standard.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Test different mice with the manufacturer drivers, and default Windows drivers. Try a different connector port- you also didn't specify if this is a PS/2 or USB mouse.

I used to use an HP mouse with the default Windows drivers and it worked to my satisfaction. After the button failed I had to pick up a new mouse, Walmart only had Logitechs, and I've had to fight with it to get it to work to my satisfaction. The Logitech drivers are junk, far too precise with too many settings, and it runs too slow if I use the Windows mouse drivers. Setting up GZDoom took over a week to get it how I like it since that program has multiple mouse settings. And while I can get around the fast speed issue by disabling mouse acceleration in games, the idiotic software seems to think Photoshop is a game.

Hi thanks for the response, I installed my mouse drivers again and it helped but it didn't solve the issue unfortunately. The mouse is USB and I also bought a USB hub recently which helped as well but also never fixed it
