Incompatability with Sierra Wireless?

I have this rather irritating problem in that whenever I install the drivers/software for my sierra airport 595u card, it kills the usb host controllers. By kill, I mean I get "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (code 39) errors. This is on both my laptop and desktop I've tried this on. I don't even have the device plugged in when installing, but when I reboot this happens. Uninstalling the software doesn't work, only system restore before the install or format and re-install. I tried comparability mode for vista, no go.

Quick update. Apparently the drivers can be loaded if you do it manually. The device won't actually connect without the sprint pcs connection manager's services running. As near as I can tell, running them causes the computer to be unable to re-start any usb style devices. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem with Build 7057. I installed my AirCard 597E into my laptop running build 7057 (it's a Telus card in Canada) and I noticed now that it's wiped out my entire USB stack.

Where you ever able to recover the USB drivers to operating function without having to reinstall? I shudder at the thought of going through all that again..

Rollback seemed to work, but nothing else would. I would suggest giving the sierra connection manager thing from sprint a go instead of the sprint wireless connection. That seemed to work for me. (after a fashion)

Hey Akaiku -

So I have good news - I solved this problem a few days ago but forgot to update this post.

Its the "USB MUX" drivers that Sierra Wireless installs that cause your Windows 7 USB drivers to freak out. Thankfully, Sierra Wireless is aware of the problem and has released a fix (it was just tough to find!)

What you need to do is download and install the updated USB MUX drivers located at this link:

I'm back up and running on my Aircard and it works great!!!
