I have been experiencing more and more frequent blue screens. Doesn't seem to matter what I am doing, or what programs are running. Really need some help, cause I have no idea what is causing this problem. Thanks guys!!

Hi Adam,
please install an AV cant see one on the system.

Event logs look pretty clear, apart from a known hiccup in the Asus AI suite.

There is a problem with your windows updates being caused by store corruption which might explain the lack of BSOD info.

please run the following,

KB947821
REBOOT
from an admin command prompt
sfc /scannow (note the space)
http://www.sysnative.com/niemiro/apps/SFCFix.exe
post the log
WU is operating in W10 upgrade mode, how did you stop it?
Please also stop it updating drivers

Roy

I didn't realize it wasn't recording the BSOD data. Interesting. The Bsods are generally to fast for me to note the error code. I do have a picture of one. the thing there was:
Stop: 0x000000f4 (0x000000000000003, 0xfffffa80112b9b10, 0xfffffa80112b9df0, 0xfffff800035cdb70)

Running that KB947821 didn't do anything. It said that it is not applicable to this computer. I did try to run scannow and it didn't detect any issues. I'm attempting to run the sysnative thing now. As for the Windows 10 upgrade, I simply never did the upgrade, no stopping anything required. And WU doesn't update my drivers, I do that manually, because WU does not auto update anything. I have it all set to manual. Will post the log from SFCfix when done.

derp. I downloaded the wrong version of the KB947821 (i did the 32bit, needed the 64bit). the new one installed a hotfix. Also, the SFCfix program found no issues. The log is attached. Not sure what to do now....

Well, the store corruption doesnt seem to have been fixed, either by the windows update you had me download, or by sfcfix. still isn't saving blue screen dumps. and wont allow me to do any further windows updates with the normal updater. it always just fails. gives me error code 8024200D. however, it seems i CAN manually download the updates and install them that way. not a whole lot of those that it lists need to be done... johnhoh.... you mean you want to know what all my hardware is? core i7 4790k, evga 1080 gtx, 16 gigs ram, asus motherboard (can check exactly what it is if you want). not sure what else if anything you want. not sure where to go from here. i am going to check all of the physical connections and internal cords and what not, just in case something is loose and causing this. shot in the dark.

my system specs show the detail level we need here. you likely have a driver conflict, or a hardware conflict, or a hardware failure and its necessary to know your precise system details. Belarc Advisor will show you some of those details.

If the problem is windows corruption then a windows re-install may fix it, but its too soon to jump to that conclusion so lets focus on hardware.

First thing I'd do is unplug that seagate spinning drive. Since its not the boot drive its not real likely to be the problem but spinning drives are often the first thing to go in terms of hardware so might as well rule it out by removing it for now. Your ssd drives are almost certainly fine. Bad memory won't survive a memest86 run, so you'll want to download memtest86 to a usb and boot from it and run it to rule out memory. The cpu is never the problem so that's not it. Your psu is awesome so that's not it. A bad graphics card usually produces visible issues beyond a bsod that's not real likely to be it. So all this means its probably a software/driver/windows issue, or a bad motherboard.

Make sure you have no check marks within device manager.

With the spinning drive unplugged and device manager clean, if you still get a bsod then we need to remove windows from the equation. Best way to do that is to download UBCD to a usb drive and boot from it instead of windows. It has several hardware test programs on it you can use to stress your system and play around with for an hour or two. Or if you are up for it, a standalone bootable linux loaded onto a usb drive can serve the same purpose - give you a chance to put your hardware through its paces without windows in play at all. If you get a blue screen in either case, you know its a hardware problem and I'd put 90% odds on it being the motherboard. I say that only because of the hundreds of systems I've diagnosed with random bsod issues that already have good power supplies (like yours), the motherboard is usually the problem. If UBCD or USB-booted linux never produces a blue screen for you, then its time to reinstall windows.

You may work on this for some time and come to no firm conclusion. In that case I recommend you swap out the motherboard, preferably with one you can beg/borrow/steal temporarily.

Others here can talk you through the log file and software-based bsod troubleshooting methods, as I am admittedly biased toward assuming hardware in the case of random bsod problems.
