Hi omust, Welcome to forums.

check out this link

You might want to check the solution provided at the bottom of the page. Registry edit option. You need to be extra careful while making changes to registry for Firefox.

Or, you can completely remove Firefox and use Chrome as your default browser.

Dear Archer,

Thank you for your respond. I have done the steps mentioned in the link provided, first I made a restore point just in case, and then removed the registery values as described, however these steps did nothing I still have the same startup error. This error just show up in my desktop even without clicking any thing !!!.
Finally I decided to completely remove Firefox using IoBit Uninstaller. But still I have the same error.

Any other suggestions, please.

Dear Layback Bear,

I highly appreciate your respond, you know I have installed IoBit uninstaller to completely remove firefox. Now I have installed IoBit Advanced System Care Ultimate 7 and scanned my PC, honestly it found many errors and registry errors, the good news is that it removed the index.url error "Wow!!".

1- Now should I uninstall all IoBit softwares? or should I keep them? - My PC now looks fine-
2- Can I install Firefox without getting this error again?

Thank you all for your support, please respond to above queries.

I would not have IOBit anything on my computers.
That is a personal choice.
Their should be a uninstalled on the IOBit website I should think. I don't have any idea how well it works because I have never used it. I won't go to the website so I can't look for you.
I have read to many post where Advanced System Care has done so many changes to the system a Clean Install was needed.

Did you do this and if so what was the results?

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

I'm using Firefox 26 on this computer. I didn't have any problems downloading and installing what so ever. That was just a few weeks ago after a new build.
Make sure you get it from the Mozilla Firefox website.
I can't remember ever having problems downloading and installing Firefox through the years.

Dear Layback Bear,

Thank you for your reply. After the problem is solved, I will remove all IoBit softwares, I never knew that there's a tool like sfc in Seven,,, thanks for that link.

I'm going to install Firefox (from its official website) and see what will happen.

I'm using Eset Smart security 7.

Again thank you for your great support.
