but it doesn't give me the "icon" tab when i right click on the movie file and select properties like xp. any way of changing each individual movie icon?

thank you, Jon

I just make a folder for each AVI, and add album art as folder.jpg to each movie folder.

If you View the files as icons, with a folder.jpg inside, they look like this:

Hi gofawkurself and welcome to the forum!

I don't believe there's a native way to change individual icons of video files in Windows 7.

If you want to organize your collection whether it be music, pictures or videos in a visual way, you can try making individual folder for each movie, for example. From this point, you can customize it by changing the icon of the folder to the dvd case template that you have or you can go to Properties>Customize and you can choose your folder picture from this point.

Hope this helps ;)

I have been looking around and the only thin I have come up with is that you cannot change the icon of a avi file through any tools windows provides directly. I did come up with something on my own that I decided was good enough. It is quite simple really. Just make shortcuts of the avi files that you want to customize the icons on and then go about customizing the icons on the shortcuts. It is the only way I have been able to do it so far. I hope that helped your problem.

Thanks Zacchaeus

I have been dragging everywhere to find a simple solution for my AVI files. Nothing does it short of a registry changes -- I prefer to avoid that method.

Your procedure works great. Thanks.
