Solved Info On MotherBoard - HP1670

Hi all,

I have a HP pavilion G6-1139tx notebook and I wanna know about its motherboard's specification and details like how many slots I have freely to use for installing other PC cards, how many PCI Ex slots and bus speeds etc...etc....etc....and everything a home user should be aware of. I had to ask this here because I tried googling a lot but I could not find a good description or either DIY pic.

Note : Mother board model which I listed in my title was given to me by TuneUp Utilities System Information.

can anyone direct me somewhere I can get these Info on this HP-1670 mother board?

and also..My notebook have 1GB ATI Radeon card included which works in switchable graphic mode with Intel HD 3000. is it possible to upgrade this separate graphic card without replacing the mother board?

It says nothing about slots. It's a notebook, so difficult to upgrade.

I'd assume you cannot upgrade the graphics. Sounds to me like your choices are the Radeon or Intel on-processor graphics.

thanks ignatzatsonic, I have already checked on this link. it just include most primary details. but not the detailed info that I'm looking for. I hopr you guys know about what Im seeking here, its the info just like we get to know about desktop boards. And yes, My ATI card is pretty much enough for all the work and for pretty much decent gaming though its just a little consideration of upgrading it with 2gb Radeon card. And Im looking for this info because have thought of customizing my notebook with new processors and new ram upgrades, wifi card...etc...in order to do so, I should be aware of what types are supported. soo can you guys direct me where I can get these kind of info?

Notebooks are just highly limited in their "upgradability". You rarely even hear of someone making serious attempts, beyond RAM upgrades. The cases are so tiny that you have to rely on external add-ons or nothing.

You had a choice before you bought between upgradability (pronounced "desktop") and portability (pronounced "notebook"). You chose portability and get to live with it.

I'd assume the external add-ons are highly conventional standard items.

he he. I know the most basic law with notebooks. Im very happy with my notebook. but I think CPU upgrades and wifi card upgrades are possible. isn't it?

I know nothing about Wifi, but I so rarely hear about attempts to upgrade laptop CPUs that I assume it is highly difficult at best. Some CPUs are soldered onto the motherboard. And it may be difficult to disassemble the notebook enough to get at the CPU. I don't know if your notebook has a soldered CPU or a traditional socket mount.

It will be a long time before that CPU you have will be considered puny. By that time, you would probably be better off buying a whole new notebook.

yep, me too guess so. and thats what Im trying to find out too. that whether these things soldered or just using sockets...etc...because opening my system would void my warranty that yet I have for another long period.

Notebooks are designed to be Notebooks and nothing more. Talking to my Intel Dealer: He repairs more Notebooks than any thing else now days. Boy I guess that says a lot. The only weak spot is the motherboard. They can be replaced but it cost to much. Hard drives, cpu, ram, keyboards and screens can be replaced also in some cases if you can find the parts. Finding upgrades is difficult. You still got a Notebook when you get done. If you need or want mobility I would suggest buying a top of the line Laptop or having a Laptop built the way you want it.

If it has a wireless G adapter in it, don't bother upgrading. You are already connecting at a faster speed than any home internet service can provide. As for the CPU, unless you can find specific information supporting the upgrade, don't bother. Laptops are usually designed to deal with the heat generated by that specific processor. If you picked a higher end proc that pulled more power or generated more heat, you could end up damaging the laptop.

Basically, if you want to be able to swap out parts here and there, get a tower. Laptops are fine to be accompanying systems, and then sold to be replaced every couple of years.

I accept your opinion. I have my desktop but not necessarily using it. I just turn it On only for once in a week. Just had a thought of if can upgrade my notebook even some parts, it would be much great. this performance is more than enough for my work except for running crysis on high detailed mode... but you know we always looking to do something.

and thanks DeaconFrost it has wireless b/g/n adapter in it but only 1x1 antenna. I thought of fixing 2x2 or higher antenna if it is possible. would I be able to do so?

and yet I'm looking for that detailed motherboard info. I have forgot up the idea of upgrading but yrt I wanna know about my system little further than what HP gave us
