Input lag problem (keyboard, mouse, video)

I have input lag that increases with time after boot up. Initially there is no lag, but it becomes so bad that I type 12-13 letters before anything reaches the screen. Mouse clicks lag. Video (simple games) jerks badly. I tried replacing my Radon GPU with a NVIDIA (replaced Radon when the swap didn't help). Repeated virus scans with many products. Changed keyboard and mouse. Removed KVM. Updated BIOS. Updated all drivers. Switched from Win 10 to Win 11. Searched web for solutions. Nothing helps. I think I also used the BIOS reset button with the computer off.

I wrote MSI and they sent me a canned reply, telling me to disconnect everything and run from the shipping box. They wanted me to swap out the expensive CPU, RAM, and PSU. None of these things are practical and I don't believe they are likely causes of the lag. The thing that seems to be a clue is that the lag is not present after a reboot, but begins to build in as I use the computer. It can take 5-6 hours before the lag is really bad. I had high hopes that replacing the video card or switching to Windows 11 would help, but neither had any effect. FWIW, I sometimes see some lag early into a work session. Today I noticed a bit of keyboard lag and lag on mouse clicks (enough to cause me to click again, then both clicks register and the second one cancels the first one).

What kind of troubleshooting remains? Does anyone know how a slow buildup of lag happens? If someone knows this, it may point directly to my problem.

Keyboard = wired
Mouse = one wired and one wireless.

FWIW, the wireless mouse was the only one I used for most of the time I used the computer when it had no lag. When I connected everything directly to the computer (removed my KVM switch) I used only the wired mouse. The lag was the same with and without the KVM.

Do you use any USB hub?

Open device manager. Is there any yellow alert of missing driver?

I don't have any USB hubs connected. Device manager does not show any alerts.

Thanks for your replies.

I have also tried switching browsers. My usual browser is Firefox. When I have used other browsers, there was no improvement. When I look at memory usage with Task Manager, Firefox and Thunderbird are the only significant users. I will stop Thunderbird as a test (didn't think of this before).

WU is enabled. I doubt that it matters, since I have seen one update to Win 10 and then installed Win 11. There were no changes in the lag. I was convinced that installing 11 would fix the problem, but it had no effect. I also thought that the symptoms were what I would expect from the GPU, but switching from Radon to NVIDIA and back also did nothing. Yesterday, I took the side panel off of the case, to test for a hot spot. It lowered the temp by 1 or 2 degrees, but temperature is around 42 degrees. The thing that I can't figure out is what would slowly increase lag and vanish after a reboot, then start increasing again.

The problem started when I was running Win 10. I tried doing a repair, but that didn't help. I also tried switching back to an image of Win10 that I believe was before the lag started. That didn't work. I then returned to the last Win 10 release. Lag remained. Then I did the upgrade to Win 11, thinking that it would surely solve the problem, but nothing changed. I am running Win 11 now.

Don't think the issue is related to the OS. Seems more like a hardware issue.
As you're now using Win 11 I suggest you post it on Windows 11 Forum
