Install Acer Recovery Disks (Windows 7 64X Home Premium)

First I plan to remove the main drive which is 240GB solid state drive with Windows 64X 10 Home Premium from my desktop. My desktop is Acer Aspre M3450. Then put another 240GB solid state in and install Windows 7 from my Acer Recovery Disks which have 3 DVD's to install. My question is that should I format the new solid state drive or not necessary just put in the first Acer Recover disk to install? I already made a backup copy of Windows 10 64X Home Premium on my 64GB USB. I am planning to setup the virtual machine with both Windows 7 and Windows 10 in my desktop but not sure when I will? Oh one more thing before sending my message -- Am I suppose to restart the desktop so I can get in Display settings to pick CD/DVD to use while my first disk of Acer Recovery already is in the CD/DVD drive.

Your help would be appreciated with this about what to do to install Windows 7 on my desktop.

Just put the disc in, it should do everything for you. Then you can use Partition Wizard if you want to make any changes.

Thank you for your reply and yes I got this program before. I like MiniTool Partition Wizard Bootable 9.1 and will use this after install Windows 7 in my new SSD.

As I understood, you are replacing the Win 7 HP SSD with a blank one and in that one you're going to work on. Correct?
Did you do a copy of Windows 10 64X Home Premium on your 64GB USB or did you made a disk image?
As you have a desktop computer, why don't you install Win 10 on the blank SSD and use Win 7 on the other. During boot you choose with one you want to work on.
Remember: During installation ONLY the target SSD should be attached to the MB.

Want to say thank you for latest reply. Here is the information that you want to know more about my desktop. Now you are asking about " Remember: During installation ONLY the target SSD should be attached to the MB. " Yes both SSD's are attached to motherboard. Took me a while trying to figure out with the word " MB " then I realized that MB is a short word for Motherboard. Sorry about this.

What I meant is that when you're installing win 7 by the Acer Recovery Disks to install Windows 7 on second SSD, make sure that the SSD is the only disk attached to the MB, that is, the Win 10 SSD must be detached from the MB. If you don't do it, you can mess the two disks.

the licenses for both OS's are motherboard tied UNLESS they are retail.

Roy -- I understand that the operating system have to be licenced. With Windows 7 64X Home Premium come from my Acer Recovery Disks but I see the tag on one side of my desktop for the licence of Windows 7 64X from Microsoft. Now about Windows 10 64X Home Premium come from free upgrade through Microsoft like everyone got them from Microsoft since last year. I have the program called " ShowKeyPlus " to show me the activation key of Windows 10. I believe that I should be okay to run both operating systems with valid keys from Microsoft. Am I correct about this? Please let me know about this.

Hi Imcanadian,

Using the Acer recovery discs on the ORIGINAL system, (motherboard & SSD), should auto activate. OEM & RETAIL
However changing to a new SSD:--
OEM :-- may result in you having to Activate via phone using the COA sticker code.

Your W10 Digital Entitlement works in the same way.
However having working W7 & W10 on the same computer, using the same base licence violates the terms of the EULA.

As far as i know MS has not published a definative document regarding this situation YET, i suspect they will.
So following this forums guidelines, and MS's EULA agreement which you accepted on installation of the OS,
I would have to say your secondary OS is non-genuine.

Good point Roy about original system from Acer Recovery Disks and guess that I should leave the hard drive in the desktop for Windows 7. Later will clone to SSD. Now you question about the licences to be retail. Well the Acer Recovery Disks are from Acer but not sure about Windows 10 as I got free upgrade from Microsoft. Is that retail or just an upgrade gift from Microsoft. Should I contact Microsoft about this or don't worry about this. Your advice will be a benefit for this.

My understanding.

Once one uses their Windows 7 key for a upgrade to W-10 and their 30 trial time is up; the Windows 7 key is now locked to the W-10 installation.
Therefore the Window 7 key will no longer legally work on the Windows 7 installation.

One will no longer be able to use (1) Windows 7 key to install and activate W-10 and Windows 7 at the same time legally.

If it was my computer I would keep the Windows 7 key for Windows 7. (If Microsoft allows that) at this stage and just buy W-10.

To put it in another way.
If one trades in their old car on a new car; one doesn't get to keep both the old car and the new car.

First want to say thank you to some of the members here who have replied to my messages. I have decided not to go ahead to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64X (Acer Recovery System). So I will stay with Windows 10 on my desktop. I should have done way back to roll back to Windows 7 within 30 days of my use on Windows 10 but I wasn't thinking of this before till few weeks ago. Oh well.
