Installed new SSD clean install of windows7 and now experiencing slow

Last night i installed a new Solid state drive and was pleased, until i shut down the shut down time was horrible. Is this due to something happening with my secondary HDD drive? I did some tweaks to the SSD such as superfetch, paging files, drive indexing, disabled pagefile and prefetch and write catch. I also disabled ClearPageFileAtShutdown and LargeSystemCache. I did not format my old drive as i wanted to just save the OS in case of a crash. Does this have anything to do with my shutdown? is there anything i can do to solve this or should i use registry to change my shutdown times? maybe even just format the second drive? I am stumped and would really appreciate any information that can be given and thanks to all you techies and brilliant individuals ahead of time!

What make and model SSD?

Why did you do all that tweaking?

I'd have let Windows tweak in whatever way it wants during the install and otherwise leave it alone other than checking alignment after the install.

How did you do the new install, did you just have the SSD plugged in? Was the shutdown time normal before applying all of those tweaks? I've used SSD's for a while now and I do minimal in the way of tweaking things with Win 7...

Try unplugging the other HDD and do a couple starts and shutdowns to see if anything changes..

I am using a OZC Solid 3 120G. I first started by changing to HCPI in Bios installed Win7 DVD and proceeded with a normal install. I did all the tweaks to improve the preformance and minimize the writing to the Drive for more longevity. Should i just delete and re install windows and not tweak?

I think the only thing you have to do is make sure your defrag program knows your drive is solid state. I've not heard of monkeying with the page file and cache.

I think you are grossly exaggerating the need to minimize writing.

Windows will recognize it is an SSD and make a few adjustments without any input from you.

There may be something peculiar about OCZ drives, but generally you don't need to tweak. I did absolutely nothing to my Intel SSD other than install it normally (AHCI) and confirm proper alignment when done. Windows had already turned off defragging.

OK so i will re install it with no tweaks is there anything else that should be done other than just turning off defragment? Thank you for a much clearer look at this geuss I was talking to the wrong people before I started.

You might wait to see if an OCZ fan knows something peculiar about that brand.

I doubt you will have to turn off defrag--Windows will probably do that automatically. But check that and alignment when you finish the new install.

Disconnect all other drives before you start.

The windows installer turns defrag off. You should never do any of those tweaks unless you want to create a genuine mess. The only 2 things I have done with my 5 SSDs is to get rid of the hiberfile (the command is powercfg -h off) and I move my user folders to the HDD. That's all. And they all work beautifully. I even run some in IDE mode, but AHCI is generally advised.
