Installing a new graphics card

Just tot add a litle, I like to try and stay at a minimum of 28A on the 12v rail.It should do the trick. Fabe

Yeah thanks :) I better try and find a power supply with minimum of 28 amps, or maybe get the one Fumz recommended me :D

I don't believe that you'd need an 850W PSU.

A Corsair CMPSU-450VX (450W) has 33A on it single +12V rail. An Antec Neo Eco 520C (520W) has 40A. (I mention Antec because they seem to be easily available in most of the world.)

A note of caution: while Corsair has a very favorable reputation, they've had compatibility issues with some Asus mainboard. Weird, but apparently it's known to both manufacturers.

Well I just need a power supply around 500 i suppose, as I need a new one for a new graphics card.

I need to know about the connectivity, such as SATA and 4-pin CPU etc. how fo i know which ones will i need? Some say they come with only 1 SATA connection and I dont know what hardware inside my desktop requires SATA. Could you help me out please?

I could have sworn we went over this already?

Again, your board: Motherboard Specifications, P5LP-LE (Leonite) HP Pavilion Media Center TV m7755.uk Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English). Look at it, notice the 4 pin connector, lower left of the socket, and the 24 pin connector to the far right of the socket. They're both white. These power your cpu and your board.

An SATA connector would be for an SATA hard drive. If you don't have an SATA hard drive, you need not worry about it. Most older SATA drives also have regular 4 pin power (molex) connectors as well, so unless your SATA drive is brand new, this is again something you don't have to worry about.

It will all become clear when you change the power supply. You don't have that many devices that require power: board (2 connections, one 4 pin and one 24 pin), cd/dvd drive (one 4 pin molex), hard drive (one 4 pin molex or 1 sata connector).... what else you got? Microwave (two 3 pin floppy connectors), Mini-bar (two 4 pin molex connectors), anything else? :p

I would do it too!

Oh, and you forgot the two 8 pin connectors for my soft drink fountain!

You did see it will draw 251 watts at full load when it was tested. If you are planning to game you can consider that you will probably be at full load during the game. You have to consider the other power requirements your system will be running like your hard drive, motherboard, disk drive, USB ports, sound etc.

What settings are there? Ive never really had experience with settings for a graphics card before. Will I be able to run it with lower settings?

That 4850 will run Crysis and pretty much any current game well, just not with all the maximum available bells and whistles.

Your mileage will vary based on other components as well.

The recommended said 8800GTS, that's my old card, and 4850 is as good as that, IMHO.
