Installing programs on 64bit problem!

I'm installing programs on my Win7 7232 and the always goto the (x86) Program Files folder.. why is that?

Happens with ALL programs and games..

Heh, because nearly all games and other software is still 32 bit only

But if you say install the 64 bit version of Blender or any other true 64 bit software, it'll go into the (64 bit) Program Files folder...

The reason is probably because they are 32 bit applications. If it is an actual 64 bit it should go into "Program Folder." All 64 bit applications installed on my system have gone into "Program Folder" with the exception of iTunes, which for some reason it does not see iTunes as a 64 bit program. In fact in "Task Manager" iTunes.exe is seen as 32 bit even though the download indicates it is 64 bit. Albeit iTunes is the only application that does this; Photoshop CS4, Lightroom, MS Office 2010 64 bit, etc., all have loaded into the "Program Folder" without a problem. Now having said that, Adobe CS4 products come in both 32 and 64 bit (on the same disk), hence, it loads both onto the computer, their 32 bit go into "X86 Programs Folder", and 64 into the "Program Folder."

The only 64 bit program so far that has gone to right place is 7zip thing..

I am having a problem installing Itunes for 64 bit Windows 7. It wants to go to the Program Files (x86). So, I was wondering if all I have to do is change the path -when given the chance during installation- to Program Files? Is it that simple? I don't to do anything until I get a confirmation or the advice to wait until Apple or Windows solves the problem. Thanks.

@Humpd-Yes, it is that simple...I ran into this issue as well after my clean install of W7 and when I downloaded 64-bit iTunes, it sent it to program files (X86), but since the program IS a 64-bit app...it doesn't work well in that folder, so just change the path to go to "program files" and it will work smoothly.

Post how you made out.

jimfan0106, I used the 64 bit Itunes installer after clearing out any remnants of previous Itune installs and it installed perfectly and works fine. I followed your instructions and all is well with the world. Thanks for the help. I do not know for sure weather or not is was just the change of the file location (because there is an Itunes file in the x86 folder) or cleaning out any left-overs from previous Vista installs of Itunes or both but it is working fine now.
