Solved Installing Windows 7 on new HDD

So to make a long story short my internal hdd in my laptop died, when I first got it I made a Windows Recovery, Windows Repair, Windows Back Up & a image of disc, so now that my hdd is dead I of course am getting a new bare drive and need to know will I be able to install Windows 7 back onto this new drive & if I can what would be the instructions ?? Any advice would be appreciated

Of course you can. Install the same version so you can activate it with your COA.

Factory Recovery is an inferior install so I'd go with the Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 following the steps in the tutorial to get a perfect install.

If you do run Recovery Disks or the backup image of the factory preinstall I'd be sure to Clean up factory bloatware

In the clean install, I don't have a Windows 7 installation cd, can I use any of the other disks ?

No a Clean Install and Reinstall are the same thing.

Factory Recovery is using the Recovery Disks to recover to factory condition.

System Image Recovery is using the customized image you saved, but if it;'s of the Factory install then it is inferior to a Clean Install.

The steps show you how to save a backup image of your completed Clean Install so you never have to reinstall again.

You have to make a windows 7 installation disc. All the steps are explained in Greg`s tutorial.
Just download the windows 7 iso of your version ( most likely Home Premium 64 bit ) then burn it to a blank dvd at no more then 4x speed using Imgburn.

You will have to do this on another pc with a dvd burner.

Yes, the most important driver is your network driver so you can get out to the internet. Depending on your pc, windows may install the driver, it may not. If not you will have to get the driver and put it on a flash drive to install it. Once you are online just keep running windows update. After running windows update, fully, check device manager for any more needed drivers.

So just download and burn ISO to dvd, then slide new hard drive into laptop boot to dvd and just install, then I have to go to computer manufacturers website and download the drivers for the laptop and it should all be good

This is not XP. Win7 is driver-complete in the installer and quickly updated when you run all rounds of Important and optional Windows Updates, after enabling Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware (Step 3).

You shouldn't have to import more than a couple of drivers, and we can help you if needed.

So I can't use any of those disc's I made to reinstall Windows, because to be honest it will take forever to download 2.4gb, as I don't have highspeed where I'm at I have to go over to a relatives ?

Not a good idea. The torrent won't be any faster and it's already packaged with an illegal loader so you don't know what other surprises are seeded in it. Use the official links to keep safe and legal.

The latest official installer is in Step 1 of the tutorial so I dont' know why you're off on Digital River or torrents already. Stick with the steps in the tutorial if you want a perfect install.

I just want to be able to install Windows 7 to a new HDD thats all, but there is no way I can be on the internet for that long without losing a connection or completely slowing the internet to a point it would be unusable and would probably take 3 days just to download.

I didn't want to use the "loader" I do have a legal key I just want to be able to download in 8 hour periods maybe once or twice a week.

I see. I'd look into something like Firefox Download manager so you can start and stop the download at will.

If you go the torrent route look for clean copy with nothing added, read the comments to confirm this.

Do you have any friends that have high speed internet, that could download it for you from the legal site ?

No most of the internet in this area a all the same, thats the problem at maybe 60-70 kbps it would take too long, plus others would be on the internet and it would be used most of the day so it could easily slow down to 20 kbps or less.

Thats why I was asking about my discs that I create on wether or not they would work because I didn't want to have to download something for that much time, because I know others will want to use it and it was slow it down so much
