Installing Windows 7 on the Surface Pro 1

I've wondered for a while but how can I install windows 7 on the Surface Pro 1? I googled it and found something from here but the link to the Windows 7 ISO they use was removed for piracy, and I can't find anything else on how.

The alternative for an old Surface Pro might be to install Winux7 (aka Winux 7), free from Macrohard. A labour-of-love ‘makeover’ mod of the Linux Mint 20.3-Una OS, made to very closely resemble Windows 7.

Ok so if you're gonna install 7 on the SP1 this is basically how I did it:
- get a Windows 10 ISO. Remove the Windows 10 install.wim and replace it with Windows 7 install.wim- get EFI files from FlashBootPro. You can get it from here: Just a moment... I’d put this in a folder on the root of the iso. Copy the EFI folder in the flashbootpro folder in the XP2ESD pack. - since u hv a Surface Pro 1 use NTLite to integrate Intel HD 4000 graphics (https://dl.driverpack.io/driverpack...tel-FORCED-NTx64-HD3000_10.18.10.5161-drp.zip) USB 3.0 drivers (either can be found in XP2ESD files, or try this: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme...2e595fbd10117c6820e57c7f8fb8d83084952af41465&), there is a WiFi driver for 7 but sadly it doesn’t work :frowning: so you have to use an adapter)- boot the setup (win7 with win10 pe). Hit shift+f10, type in “setup.exe /noreboot”
- go thru setup as normally
- after setup closes, go back to CMD and type in diskpart. We r gonna need to make the boot partition visible to the setup. Type in these commands:
sel dis 0
lis vol (look for ur boot partition b/w 100-500 mb)
sel vol (whatever number ur boot partition is)
assign letter w
exit
- open notepad by typing in “notepad”. Turn on view for all files. Go to ur boot partition. Move ur BCD (should be found in EFI/Microsoft/Boot) to the root of the partition. Delete the EFI folder (make sure u don’t delete BCD).
- go back to the folder with the FlashBootPro EFI files. Copy the EFI folder to the boot partition. Move the BCD back to the new EFI/Microsoft/Boot.
- reboot. Setup will continue normally

its honestly rly cool. u can also install XP and Vista on the SP1

Thanks for the workflow. The lack of a WiFi driver sounds like a bit of a drawback. I have a refurbished Surface Pro 3 as a low-cost replacement for my increasingly annoying Kindle 10" Android tablet, and I might try your workflow on it in due course - if I do I report back here on if the WiFi driver works or not with SP3.

I found a post on Internet Archive from that was made by 2W10... it has to be you, but need to ask to be sure - so, are you one and the same?

I'm only new here, so not sure if I can post the actual link... but here are some screenshots of the post details:







Hoping that I can grab the ISO that is there so I can go straight into the set up and then "Hit shift+f10" and continue following your instructions from there. But I'm only going to get it if its your post.
