Installing XP after installing 7

So you installed Win XP to partition 1, then upgraded to Win 7 installed on partition 2. is that right.

Back in September I reformatted the computer and installed XP pro-64 bit on it(no partitions). In December I upgraded to windows 7(again no partitions). This week I made a partition and attempted to install windows XP on it.

You know,, I am thinking,, you actually might be violating the EULA by trying to do what you are doing.

You got these free from your school. They gave you XP and then they gave you an Upgrade to 7.
EULA states that you are not allowed to reinstall the old OS (in this case XP) after upgrading to 7.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Just the way it is.

I am afraid you cant install any OS onto an HD without a single partition. Perhaps when the drive was formatted a partiton was added.

It is an unusual error. I would suggest you prepare to back up all data and get ready to start from scratch.
Install in proper order and use the 7 Upgrade disk trick to do a clean install of 7 the proper way.

With everything that you have tried so far, there is something really whacked out that even if you do manage to get it installed, you may run into issues elsewhere and have to start over anyway.

Starting from scratch proper, you can be far more certain that things are installed proper, preventing potential future issues.

I don't have enough space to back up everything I have.

I am going to look elsewhere for help on this.

So what you are doing is a dual boot with Win XP Pro x64 & Win Xp pro x64, then upgrading one.

I would backup, & start flesh.
Install XP to partition 1, then install Win7 to partition 2 (NO TRICKS NEED).
If you install Win7 partition 1 (TRICKS MAY BE NEED)
