Solved Intel GPU Driver Display Issue (Glitch)

Briefly:
I own a Compaq Presario CQ70 (Laptop) and I recently re-installed Windows.
I've used the drivers that came with this laptop, but I've noticed that in Windows Update there was an update for the intergrated graphics driver, so I've installed it.
After updating, the buttons in Firefox glitch really badly, unless I set the refresh rate to 59Hz. The problem would've been solved if it didn't RESET ITSELF to 60Hz every time I reboot the laptop. That damn thing can't seem to remember my settings.

Also, the colours on the screen seem okay, but as soon as I log in and the desktop shows, they go pale, blue looks rather gray. I've got everything set to defaults.

I am pretty sure this is a software - driver issue, as that "glitching" started just as I've updated the driver.

Should I just uninstall that update? or is there something that will allow me to keep the pretty-new-useless interface of Intel Graphics Control Panel without that ugly glitch?

Hi there ... I would check the Manufactures Website to see if they have an Update for your Laptops GPU ...

As the Drivers you got on the Disc would be pretty old ..


While you are at the Manufactures Website check to see what Series of the Intel GPU is ...


Then if you can not get an Updated Driver there you could get one from the Intel Website ..


I think it may be Series 4 but could not be certain with out knowing your Exact Model Number ...

By "manufacturer" you mean the laptop's manufacturer and not Intel, is that right?
It is indeed "Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family" whatever that means - integrated, shared graphics that goes up to ~760MB but can't since there hardly is any RAM left for it.

I will uninstall the update and try.. or maybe not try the driver from HP's website, since it's from 2009 apparently. I think I'll just stick with the old driver, I doubt I'd find anything on Intel's website.

Thank you maxie, I have tried the newest driver from Intel's website. No luck, it's just as faulty as the other one. I have installed the old driver over the new one, it works flawlessly! Here is the moral of this story:
"Just because it's newer, doesn't mean it's better."
