I have an Asus laptop and I am trying to install a clean version of Windows 7. The DVD that I am using is NOT SP1 so I am installing Windows 7 and then applying the updates. All of the drivers and updates have installed but every time I try to install anything related to the Windows Intel Graphics driver, the PC restarts and shows the BSOD. So I know it is the Intel driver. I am using the driver from the Asus website. I have not gone directly to Intel but I will and download the driver from the Intel site.

I have read in other forums that this may be related to UEFI and that I should have disabled UEFI when I installed Windows. I have also read that I should install SP1 first and then install the Intel Graphics driver. There are two updates left. One is SP1 and the other is Intel Graphics update. Should I try to install the SP1 first and then the Intel Graphics driver?

Thanks

Hello bpatter mate first up don't worry about EUFI that board is - if I amnot terribly wrong a legacy BIOS if you open it up you should see a screen asin my pic. Let us know which type it is please.

The other thing we would like to know is why are you trying to get Intelgraphics driver/s you should only have to use the driver for the GPU http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/82758/en-us the onboard stuff should and again unless Iam terribly wrong cut out auto when you plug in a card

The main thing here is to get SP1 installed ASAP;)

ICIT2LOL,

Thanks for the reply. I got it to work. I loaded every windows update except the Intel Graphics driver. Once all of the updates were installed, I then installed the Intel Graphics driver and SP1 so there were just two updates and I did not get the BSOD again. The reason I am using Intel's Graphic Driver is because I have a built in graphics card not a name brand like NVIDIA.

Thanks, Bill

Thats ok Bill I thought it must have been what I call an on board graphicschip and not a dedicated GPU card what threw me was the GPU listed in the specsfor your machine - see pic

Oh... sorry. Yes, that was confusing. I am working on an Asus Laptop. The specs in my signature are for my old desktop. I need to update the specs for my existing desktop.

No worries Bill and if that laptop s a late model (I have an Asus ROG HD gamer) that I installed the latest Intel stuff on - it does improve things a little an gives a bit more control but the machine does need to have the later Intel HD graphics chips see this for an idea of what I mean Iris? Graphics and Intel® HD Graphics Technology
