So I just re installed windows 7 on my system. I have done this several times before, and I had a package of drivers which I would always use in the same order. In the past I have had no issues with this, it all worked smoothly. This time however, I have been plagued with blue screens and errors.

Among these is an issue with the Intel Graphics drivers. When I attempt to run the Intel Graphics installers, both straight from Intel, and from my motherboard manufacturer, I get an error "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". I am using the 64 bit version to go with my 64 bit OEM version of 7 professional, and I am using the HD4000 drivers for my ivybridge 3770k. The latest version I tried and failed with was Driver Revision: 15.31.3.64.3071, the latest on Intel's site. My other specs can be seen in my sig.

I have spent some time Googling for answers, but they generally involve solutions like "Uninstall your current version and re install the 64 bit version for your OS", but I haven't got a version already installed, and I am already trying to install the 64 bit version. Or "You aren't using the right version of the drivers", but I am virtually certain I am using the right version, unless I've forgotten which CPU I have.....which I haven't.

Has anyone else ever experienced and solved this issue, or does anyone know a possible solution?

Thanks,
Tom

Have you just tried running windows update to get the drivers ?

Why are you installing graphics drivers for the cpu, aren`t you using just the 7950 ?

I figured it was "proper" to install all the drivers for all the hardware in your system, though I'm happy to be proven wrong in this instance.

Aside from that though, windows is all up to date and to the best of my knowledge the HD4000 graphics aren't installed. Of course if this is completely superfluous, then great, a little less I need to bother with :).

Did you check the options in BIOS to see if the HD4000 was disabled/enabled?

Was discarded by previous owner due to "horrible performance".
Was running Win Xp from a IDE drive. Yeah. Was a pain.
SATA II drive and Win7 and it zips away! Yay!
That could well be it...Ill have a look tomorrow. Though that could be irrelevant if there isn't any advantage in installing that driver..is there any advantage if im only using my 7950 and not virtue mvp or anything?

Well, MVP is useful. But yeah, don't lose your sleep over it if you cannot fix this easily.

I have the Intel 4500MHD in my other laptop, and the 3000 in this Sandy-Bridge i7 2670QM laptop.

I always use drivers from the card/chip maker, rather than those from the PC maker's (in this case
Acer,). I've found that the drivers that come with Windows Update are, to be charitable, pathetic
as a rule, with a lot of issues, mainly related to gaming.

Usually, in order to get the 'right' drivers to install, I must first un-install the ones supplied by MS or
installation will fail. As you say that you haven't installed any drivers, but it's asking you to remove
drivers, this could possibly be your issue. Not saying it is, but it could be worth a try.

In Device Manager, check to see if your GFX driver has been supplied by Intel or Microsoft. See the
screenshot (of my 3000 chip) below. If you see anything to do with WDDM (?) or Microsoft, then that
could be your problem.

Hope I've been able to be of some assistance.

Wenda.

A top little machine that hasn't let me down once since the day I removed it from its packaging over four years ago. It's done everything I could want, and more, all without a single issue. 10/10, Acer!!
Actually, Tomha, it is I who should be thanking you for asking
your question.

You see, while reading through my reply to your question, I
realised that my own driver was out of date. Silly me. :o

Fixed now, and thanks.

Wenda.

I have a 3770K also, and have never been able to install the Intel HD graphics driver. My assumption is I have a discrete GPU, as you do, and therefore the Intel graphics is not used. That may be different if you set up MVP/ LucidLogix in the bios, which does use the Intel Graphics.

My experience with Intel HD is like mentioned it has to be enabled in the BIOS. for me it only works using the Motherboard site driver. It can be used with MVP, or just as a multi-monitor option which is also in the BIOS.

Well since I have set everything up I haven't had any issues, as suggested by some, I just left the HD4000 drivers out of the equation. This hasn't been of any consequence yet, and I don't believe it will be given I never actually used the integrated graphics.

Not sure if this is technically "solved", as I really just circumnavigated the issue, but hopefully if anyone else has this issue, the discussion in this thread will help them out.

Thanks for the help everyone :)

If you really want to have a driver for the on board graphics, you could try uninstalling the graphics card, go into the BIOS and make sure it is set to use the built in graphics, then throw the driver on there. It should install, and then should recognize when you reinstall the graphics card.
