I bought a new computer that came with the integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000.

On Windows 7, the Intel scores 5.1 for Graphic (Aero) and 5.6 for Graphic (games).

My 5450HD scores 3.9 and 5.8 for the same. I don't understand why it gets so low on Aero. It has the latest drivers.

What one would you use?

I also have a Gigabyte 6850HD but it consumes too much power for my 300W power supply.

What one would you use?

It may not matter much.

Do the things you normally do with a PC and see if you can tell the difference--particularly anything that stresses the video.

I also use HD 2000 and have no need to use a separate video card.

Using a card will use more power and generate more heat. If I could not tell the difference between a 5450 and HD 2000, I would use the latter for that reason alone.

I have read elsewhere that HD 2000 provides performance about equal to a 5450, for whatever that is worth.

Why don't you personally test HD 2000 versus 5450 and find out?

No one else is in a better position than you are to investigate performance variables on your own PC.

over clock it thats what i did to my 5450 and my score is 4.6 now and stays 44c idle and goes to 55c on load highest ive seen it go was 66c underload when i played crysis 2 on it usualy in 50s range when like playing games

anyways i overclocked it with CCC overdrive tool be carefull though if you dont know how or worried you might mess up the card then stay away from that i say test the other card also only benefit really is 5450 has dx11 support not sure about the other card since ive never owned a intel vid card

How much memory does you Radeon HD 5450 have?
What type of memory does it have, DDR2 or DDR 3?
How many bits is it, 32 bit, 64 bit?

The Radeon HD 5450 that you have is a budget card and your new computer has DDR 3 ram which is probably alot better then the Radeon HD 5450 budget you have. The 6850 will do better but first get yourself a better power supply.

I am mystified why it doesn't get better than the 3.9 on WEI Aero.

because the 5450 wasnt a strong card in the first place.

because the 5450 wasnt a strong card in the first place.

That's true but this card got a Passmark rating twice what my 6yo Radeon X1300 512Mb had yet both achieve the same WEI Aero @ 3.9. I expected different...

I'll live with the Intel 2000 for a while.
