Intel Q9400 Temperatures

I have an intel Q9400 quad core cpu with an artic cooling rev 2 and i idel at 38-40c but when i first installed the cooler it ideled at 34c so wanted to know what has happened to it and if the cooler may be failing it also works at 55c full load and not gone higher.

Hmmm....my Q9550 on stock cooling with a slight overclock (2.83Ghz to 3.2Ghz) idles around 32-34. It goes to about 58 under load.

I would expect lower numbers for an aftermarket cooler.

Just a slight dust build up is enough to cause that slight temp difference. Also 55C is absolutely fine for full load temps although dusting out your computer or changing out the TIM may bring it down a notch.

I was thinking of trying out the stock cooler i got with it as my mate had same prob with his he bought an after market £40 Aksa evo cooler and his stock one works cooler than that di dis it worth changing it or just dusting ?

i am sure that the artic cooler is damaged now as the idel temp has rose again by 2c everyday it raises a couple c im sure that it is not supposed to so might try stock now
