Sorry folks, this was posted in the wrong section of this forum. Here is where I intended to post it.

Hi

I have only just recovered from having to replace my mobo (Thursday last week) and tonight whilst away from my PC, IRST came up and said it had removed two hard drives. When I checked I found that two Seagate drives which aren't used much have been removed. I still have my Samsung hard drive but the Seagates are gone. Nevertheless, it is very inconvenient and I'm wondering, since I have not arranged my HDs as a raid system do I really need IRST? What does IRST really do? What is involved in disabling IRST?

As for the disks it has removed I shall remove them tomorrow and try to get them going with a desktop kit I have to check the contents are still there. Even more worrying is why did IRST remove them in the first place.

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Tracey

Hi Tracey,
my (very) limited knowledge would point me towards the motherboard change and its Bios defaults.
Hope you only had your main drive plugged in when you installed it.

1. Check the cable connections are secure and that there is no loose connections.
2. Does the motherboard manufacturer recommend IRST drivers?
3. Wherefrom did you get the driver and installed it?
4. Check the version and update it to the latest version and see whether it resolves the problem. Download Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology (Intel(R) RST) RAID Driver setuprst.exe (10.5MB) ( The one supplied with your motherboard or the one you downloaded from the motherboard manufacturer's website may be old)
