Intellipoint Software Incompatible With Win 7

OHHHH!! i DO NOT like M$'s Wireless Desktops! yesterday i bought one (M$ Wireless Optical Desktop 2000) today, i went back to the store where i bought it for store credit.. didn't like it AT ALL! i couldn't move my keyboard to my lap because it doesn't work, same with the mouse.. i couldn't move the receptor too far away from my 5 level desk because the entire set didn't work.. ended up using the credit store to buy a USB Keyboard and a USB Laser Mouse... i'm happy again hehe

Not to be funny, but how is that helping the OP with his Desktop 3000 install issue?

BTW I have intellipoint installed on a Windows 7 machine using a Wireless Keyboard 6000 with the mouse. No problems. Which is why I'm actually trying to help the OP get his installed.

Sorry Sygnus, Hehe that's why i edited, i actually had problems to install intellipoint/intellitype pro, so i ended up using the generic drivers that windows installs, if i remember correctly, were HID (Human Interface Device ¿?) because the software gave me problems with windows update, sadly i don't have pics to show you the errors it gave me.. it was a weird update, something like HID filter list, i don't remember exactly.. and Windows Update listed the same update 4 times in the same list.. besides the intellipoints updates hehe That was what i meant to write in the first place but i remember what happened yesterday and i got carried away.. hehe

Only for use in the US and Canada per the box. When I tried to install from the CD that came with it, those questions were asked and I used the version printed on the hardware. The keyboard is 3000v2 and the mouse is 5000.

You should definitely be able to use the software - why you can't is the issue. Hmmm..... thinking....

OK, lets try this....

- Go to device manager and uninstall/delete any keyboards you have there.
- Roboot the computer (may have to hit reset key since you'll have no keyboard) and let it install the generic keyboard drivers.
- Try installing the latest drivers from the link I provided.

The device manager now recognizes the keyboard and mouse with the proper model. The link you sent for the drivers goes someplace else.

I tried installing again since device manager picked up the proper model numbers, but still got the same error.

BTW I should have stated that Intellipoint is for the Mouse, Intellitype is for the Keyboard. With that said, you need to be using the Intellitype drivers for the keyboard. The link I provided has two drivers, one for mouse, one for keyboard.

There are two different downloads, I posted both filenames earlier, one is for point and the other for type. What I meant on my last post is that this is the first time that the keyboard v3000 and mouse 5000 have shown in device manager. They were generic HID's before.

So it sounds like the software installed to me. You can check this by going to Start, All Programs, look for these folders - Microsoft Keyboard, and Microsoft Mouse. They should contain programs and settings for each Peripheral.

In device manager they ARE still generic. I still am not able to get either the Intellipoint or the Intellitype to install on my machine.

Question? Do you or did you have any other Keyboard or Mouse software installed on the system? Is it still installed? If So, remove it/them then try installing the software again.
