Also, since that driver is being flagged by Verifier, Verifier may cause the system to crash during the uninstall of the driver.

Disable Verifier prior to doing Stephen's driver re-install steps. Best of luck!

Great! Thanks so much for all your help. It saved me posting my computer all the way back to customer support and getting it back still faulty, and I was really stumped before I came here. Hopefully that will have solved it - should I mark the thread as solved or wait a couple of weeks?

I've never used Verifier's graphical interface, but here is how to reset Verifier from the command line.

Go to an elevated command prompt.

type following commands, following each by hitting ENTER key.

VERIFIER /RESET
EXIT

Go To an Elevated Command Prompt


Elevated command prompt = Run CMD.EXE as administrator
WIN | type CMD.EXE | do not hit Enter |
CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER keycombo| YES

WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top.

Karl, that's the way I always disable verifier.

Tom, leave it for a week before marking as solved. The audio driver may not be the root cause. And remember to disable verifier if you haven't already using Karl's above steps!
