Due to user error, audio for both internal (Realtek) and external (Intel) HDMI monitors have ceased functioning. Restoration of this functionality isn't obvious. Video is fine and I have the latest drivers installed for both.

ASIO audio functionality works fine on each monitor for the applications that use it.

There must be a simple resolution to this, but I can't seem to find it. Is restoration of bog-standard audio possible here?

Go to the Device Manager, Sound section. Both should be listed, may have error codes and may not. Either way uninstall each device, in the device manager, but DO NOT uninstall any drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it should detect and install both devices. Then set the "speakers" as default audio playback device for the internal laptop speakers.

I have a recording studio and even with my recording interface connected (MOTU 896mk3 Hybrid) it does not interfere with regular PC audio.

In Device Manager, under Sound, video and game controllers, the following are listed:

  • Intel Display Audio
  • Realtek High Definition Audio
... are listed.

For clarification, those two devices are what you are referring to when you say delete them, correct?
