internal microphone no working in my compaq presario cq 42

I have gone to Control panel/sound and all seems to be ok there. I tried recording something and when I play it I only get a very soft continuous sound when you are trying to find a radio but not the voice recorded. Can somebody help me. i have Windows 7/ and Celeron

Try right clicking the speaker on your taskbar then go to recording devices then go and right click in the big box with little rectangles in side and show disabled devices then if it is there right click it and enable. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your answer, I've done it but didn't fix it, I also updated the sound card driver and still not working.

Try using external microphone to record sound using audacity(a software for recording audio). If u are using windows sound recorder, it records audio with very low gain which might be the cause of the matter u mentioned. waiting for your reply.
