In the notification area, the INTERNET access icon is all white. Are the bars supposed to colored as the scale goes up. Mine are all white. How do I tell what the signal strength is?

The connection icon in notification area is always showing 5 white bars. To see signal strenght for both connected and available networks click the icon.

can we change that?

Can we make the icon show the correct number of bars instead of making us believe that we are not connected to any network? Thanks,
