Internet and Network fail

My PC will not connect to the Network router and therefor Internet on average every 2 - 3 times I switch on!
Usually the only way to get it to work is to re-boot - sometimes more than once.
I often go through the trouble shooter - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't
It seems pretty random.
Usually it doesn't find the cause and the re-boot is the answer.
(It did find that the LAN IP address was missing/wrong once)
Is there a setting or a box that needs ticking, somewhere in the maze that is the PC settup, that anyone knows of.??
Often it will be fine all day - then after turning off - next time it's up the creek again!!
So frustrating - especially when I turn on quickly to look something up - usually in a hurry.

No, its a part of iTunes' bloatware. It makes sure you connect to apple servers or something like that.

Get rid of it following the instructions posted, and let me know how it goes?

Thanks - I will do - got to wait until I have more than 5 mins though as,
in my experience, these things usually throw up a problem as well.
I am working over the weekend and busy in the evenings!

I notice it does carry a warning however:
Warning: iTunes and some other programs need Bonjour to function. In which case do not remove!
(BTW I also have revo uninstaller which might also be able to remove it)

I am quietly hopefull anyway and will let you know as soon as I have done it
thanks

Geoff

Type services.msc in the start search boc, click on the icon, then find Bonjour. Right click on it, choose properties, set it to disabled and stop the service.

Now see if it affects CS3. :)

Is a matter of fact bonjour does install with Adobe photo shop so it's most likely causing the problem. You will usually get the now famous "Unidentified Network" problem in the Network and Sharing center.

To fix ...
Run MsConfig

Under the Services tab uncheck the service called "##Id_String1.6844[... and then a bunch of numbers]" by Apple, which Jacee already pointed out. :)

To remove bonjour for good perform the following procedure.

1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Bonjour
2. Rename the mdnsNSP.dll file in that folder to mdnsNSP.old
3. Restart your computer
4. Delete the Program Files\Bonjour folder

Bonjour is one of Steve Jobs little demons he created just to mess up Windows systems.

Thanks all - it is getting a little confusing
but
My Bonjour folder only has 2 files:
mdnsNSP.dll
mDNSResponder
Why do I need to rename the .dll file
only to then delete it when I delete the whole folder - after the re-boot
does it have some kind of protection?
Originally - I was considering just deleting the folder -but it would seem
it can't be removed as easily as that...or am I wrong
So what about using the removal program/link that LiquidSnak suggests

I am just very wary of messing up an otherwise great PC that is operating nicely

The reason you rename the file is so that you can delate it. .dll's can be difficult to remove unless you rename them sometimes.

I'd be more wary of having a false network on your machine that has been plaguing Windows 7 networks since day one.

I have personally helped diagnose and fixed this problem no less than 100 times so take the advice as you will, it's been proven to work and should also work for you. You will need to reboot and all that stuff after wards.

If you are still having problems then please post your ipconfig /all here and we can go from there. :)

Uhh - No - I spoke too soon!

I have now lost the 32 bit Internet facility
64 bit works fine
There are a lot of things that just don't work on W7 Internet 64bit
so I usually switch to the 32bit internet explorer for those
(video clips - flash player - that sort of stuff)
Diagnostic can't find what the fault is . no internet site works.

I could system restore - but that might not work either as I completely removed the Bonjour and all
it's registry files too.
Internet explorer 64 is fine though

Hmm, that sounds like a software issue with IE8. Would you be willing to try a different browser, such as Google's Chrome, or Internet Explorer 9?

Also, what are you running for anti-virus?
