A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available

This is what I keep getting popping up...but Internet Explorer carries on working so I dont understand why it keeps popping up all the time...I dont seem to have any virus or malware as I done checks so dont understand what its doing it for.

I have tried to reset Internet Explorer which seemed to work for a very limited time but starts up again for no reason I can see..

Anyone throw any light on this situation?

angiesluck welcome

1.The message you receive is usually caused by an add-on to IE.
Troubleshooting IE without Add-ons
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools, and click Internet Explorer no Add-ons.
Then re-enable add-ons 1 at a time until you locate the add-on causing your problem.

2.There have been reports of the Google toolbar causing this problem so if you have the Google toolbar I would suggest uninstalling it.

3.Try using System File Checker to scan your OS for missing/corrupt files.
Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
In the results area, right-click cmd.exe, and then click Run as administrator.
Click Yes / Continue if you are the administrator or type the administrator password.
At the command prompt, type sfc /scannow, and then press ENTER.

The scan may take some time, so be patient.
Windows will repair any corrupted or missing files that it finds.
If information from the installation CD is needed to repair the problem, you may be prompted to insert your Windows 7 CD.

Good luck.

It says to untick the .....enable protected mode then restart computer but it says that by unticking this it will put the computer at risk ..so not sure what to do now..should I risk putting my computer at risk?

The article gives 4 ways to approach the problem:

Disable Protected Mode
Reset Internet Explorer Settings
Reinstall Internet Explorer
Switch Browser

In regard to the first, Disable Protected Mode, I tend to be pretty cautious too, so I would try the other 3 methods first. If none of them help with the problem, and you wanted to try to Disable Protected Mode, then you might re-enable Protected Mode as soon as you re-boot your system. I think that would pretty much minimize any potential risk ---

If you haven't already done so, there are quite a few additional suggestions in the 'Comments' section below the article.

Also, check your Add-Ons, becaue very often one or more of them could be causing the problem. Also conflicts with other apps --- because many apps are not configured to work with IE9.

On most browsers, they allow you to import your favourites/bookmarks on the first run wizard. Don't know whether Chrome does but I know Firefox and Opera do, so I don't see why not.

You won't lose your Favorites if you save them to a travel drive or other external drive. Favorites are just a folder, and can be saved and transferred like most other folders.

I uninstalled 9 back to 8 but still I have the same problem......I tried to reset 8 but still same.....I downloaded and ran different recommended spywares programs and then took back off again..spybot picked up 'coupon bar' to take off plus another malware which the other two did not pick up (Malwarebytes and superantispyware) Can not take off 8 as it doesnt seem too allow....inorder to reinstall....so not sure what else to do now as dont fancy unticking the protection mode as it may let stuff through.....anymore options guys?

* Please list ALL of the Security Programs you have had on your computer.

* Have you checked Event Viewer? (type eventvwr in search).
Go to the windows log>application & system tabs.
Look for red critical errors.
Should there be anything that relates to the problem, note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

I have only had Malwarebytes and I am now using only from this week Spybot. Currently using avast.

I opened event program and on System tabs only found Kernel -Power event 41 as a red critical.

On the Applications tab I found no red critical but red circles with (!) inside.....Lots of application error Event 1000......Sidebyside event 63......customer experience improvement program event 1008 .....application hang event 1002...SQL Browser event 3 warning (yellow triangle).....plus lots more different ones but no critical signs.

Hopes this helps

Ok...well I have just posted another thread to do with drivers......maybe that is causing it to have the problem? I will just have to wait and see when I get a reply from one of the experts in this field :) If that does not sort it out then I will try a solution I have just read on Microsoft but it does say to see if all drivers are updated first as this may sort it out if not then give that one ago......Maybe one day I will solve this annoying mystery :)
