I have a Chinese computer that is running Windows XP professional. I upgraded to Windows 7 and all has gone well. I now have an English language computer again. The only problem I have now is it no longer can access the internet.

It detects there is an internet connection but it is unable to communicate with the DNS server. How do I connect to the DNS server in order to access the internet again?

Computer: Lenovo
CPU: Pentium Dual Core E5500 @ 2.80Ghz
2 gig of RAM

Upgrading sometimes corrupts winsock or the TCP/IP stack.

Winsock entries tells Windows 7 how to access your network services. Additionally, your TCP/IP protocol can be corrupted. The TCP/IP protocol is a stack of 4 layers that includes several transport layers, but when this stack is corrupt you will constantly have connectivity issues.

Run the following two commands one at a time in an elevated command prompt. :)

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)
