I decided to upgrade to windows 7 and everything seemed to be going ok, my download speeds remained 400-500 on some sites and i noticed no problems, until installed ventrilo, world of warcraft, and steam for my gaming.

When i have ventrilo open alone its at 70ms, however when i open anything else that uses internet access i can spike as high as 5000ms.

I was running world of warcraft, ventrilo and mozilla firefox all at once. My ping in "wow" was 350 (regular 80-120) ventrilo 70-5000 almost constently spiking to 500-5000. i dont understand what can be causing these spikes. i have checked to make sure i have up to date drivers, unless im missing something.

I plan to test running each program alone with nothing else open to see if i can keep the pings stable and try opening other to see if its only when i open more then 1 program.

I use:
Speedstream 6250 router
D-link DFE-530TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (rev.C)

We have the same ethernet adapter. And I'm experiencing the same thing. Online gaming doesn't seem too good with W7. Must be a common problem or it has something to do with our network adapter having issues with 7, which I really, REALLY doubt.

I've done a fresh install to verify, and it was working well on the fresh install. Turns out it was the drivers after all! Try changing the drivers of your ethernet adapter to the ones that Microsoft provides (not DLink). It worked for me.
