Hi there,

For some reason I am getting dozens of ipconfig and nbtstat.exe's opening up while I am using my PC. It slows the whole thing down considerably and I cant close them all quick enough!

Its not all the time, usually after I have been playing my online game for 15 mins or so.. help!!! I have a VERY basic understanding of PC's and I know what the ipconfig does.. but I don't want tiit to keep opening, can anyone advise please?

Thanks

Have you run a virus scan with current definitions?

I have run a scan with an up to date mcafee and no problems detected. Basically ipconfig keeps popping up in the 'processes' box I can see via task manager then disapears. When this happens my CPU usage spikes from 3% to up to 80%. On other occasions I check the process page and it seems I have dozens on ipconfig's open but I have no idea where it is coming from.

Any idea anyone? It will have to be basic as I barely know how to switch on my PC let alone what precise system I am using!

Thanks

I found your other post.
Multiple ipconfig appearing - using all my CPU!

I believe that your network connection software is causing this problem to occur. You havn't given me much info about your system so I can only guess but you should uninstall any type of connection software through add-remove programs then reboot then let Windows handle the connection for you. I had similar problems with the Dlink software that came on the CD.

I would need your complete system specs to give you more info on this problem.
