Although my computer recognises my Iphone 4 it won't link up I keep getting the same Troubleshooting message:
'Bluetooth Peripheral Device doesn't have a driver' and when I try to find/download a driver I get there are no drivers needed for this device, yet after looking even further into it I'm told a driver is needed for this device to link up, windows 7 has told me that this particular device is compatible with Windows 7 so... any help please?

Hello,

First suggestions here would be to change the USB port that you are connecting too and the USB cable.

Secondly I would do the following:

1) Click Windows Start/Home button
2) Type "devmgmt.msc" at the search (without quotes) textbox. Or go to device manager from control panel Or Right-Click on My Computer>Properties, Choose "Device Manager" from the left pane..
3) Expand "Universal Serial Bus Controller".
4) While iphone is connected, click the unknown device.
5) Right click the same and click on Update Driver Software
6) Click the second option "Browse my computer for driver software".
7) Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
8) Click on "Have Disk" button.
9) Browse to the the path "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers"
10) Select "usbaapl.inf"
11) Now select "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" under list of hardware model section.
12) It will add "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" under "Universal Serial Bus Controller"
13) Restart your computer.

If you do not have the Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers directory then download and install itunes which should create it.

Thanks Dave, I followed ur instructions and it installed Apple Mobile Device USB Driver in the universal serial bus controller list ok, but still get the message the driver for the peripheral device is not installed so PC still see's my Iphone but still won't connect, I changed the USB port connection also but no change, however I might add there are times that I can access my Iphones photo gallery, but that is all I can access, and that, is only 1 day out of 5 I installed I tunes a while back as was told that would fix the driver issue but no joy there either, any other ideas, thanks.

Try wiggling the USB cable at the phone, my smartphones usb port started becoming problematic and then failed completely to connect then failed to charge overtime. It's normal wear and tear but this may be contributing to the intermittent connect and device seen issue?

Hi, I had the same problem for the last weeks. I tried many ways but failed. Therefore, I went to Google Store and tried some free apps. Among all these apps, AirMore is what I found most useful to connect iPhone to PC without USB. If you are looking for a solution as well, you may have a try by yourself. I think it won't let you down.

If you have installed the iOS drivers but the device is not recognized, follow this troubleshooter.

  1. Unplug your device and keep it unplugged during the whole procedure
  2. Close all open programs on your PC
  3. Completely uninstall iTunes and related Apple software by following these instructions
  4. Reboot your computer
  5. Download the latest version of iTunes and install it. If you do not want to install iTunes, we created a small utility to install the iOS drivers without installing iTunes
  6. Connect the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to the computer. If you are running iOS 7 or later, make sure to also trust the computer
If your iPhone, iPod Touch is still not detected continue through this troubleshooter:

  • Make sure that you have correctly entered the pin code and deactivated the device auto-lock feature
  • Do not use a USB hub. Please connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch directly to your computer
  • Use a different USB port on the PC. For desktops with USB connectors on the front and on the back, try with one of the back connectors
  • If possible, try using a different USB cable
  • Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and set its Startup type to “Automatic” by following these instructions precisely
  • If the iPhone freezes, please consult the following page
  • If nothing helps, please check that your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch is recognized by another computer
