Ipod not syncing with itunes

So I just did a fresh start install with win 7 rtm and itunes works fine its the latest 8.2.blah blah and when I connect the touch(2nd gen) it just says that ipod "stephanie" cannot sync and then it gives an option to format. I have itunes at work on a POS cpu and it works fine it syncs on other computers as well so I know its not the ipod....Please help me

Did you read this story by Stabgotham? Here's an extract from that post:

On top of that, I had been having issues syncing my iPod Shuffle (Gen. 2). It didn't work with Windows 7 - - for god knows what reason. Even Apple Tech. Support couldn't figure it out. Well, while in my virtual XP environment, I downloaded and installed iTunes and was able to grab the music I wanted (from my Windows 7 C: drive no less) and sync it with my iPod. Now I finally have a small iPod that I can take to the *** with me -- something I have been dying to have.
