Is anyone still using Windows 7?

NOT so late,

I have gotten warnings since 2025 on my "old" OSes (W7 W10). and forced to go W11. :scream:

You mean like the warning that Microsoft Edge 109 or Google Chrome 109 or Mozilla Firefox ESR 115 is the last version for Windows 7 and we should upgrade to Windows 10? Or that Microsoft Office 2016 is the last version for Windows 7 and we can't install any newer unless we upgrade? Yes, we all have seen such warnings. Just ignore them and keep using the old version as long as possible like we all do. The real challenge is not to keep using Windows 7 on old hardware. It's to install Windows 7 on new hardware. If I ever replace my 3rd generation Intel Core i7 I will try to install Windows 7 and report.

Should be fine if there is csm support. Of course only get graphics or wifi cards that have windows 7 drivers.

Even if there is no CSM (aka Legacy BIOS) boot support, there is a way to install Windows 7 on a GPT partitioned disk and boot in UEFI mode. The first difficulty is to install storage controller drivers so Windows 7 can install and boot from an NVME SSD. I hope I can force the Windows 10/11 storage drivers or at least switch to AHCI mode. The second difficulty is to install drivers for the graphics card. Again I will try to manually force the Windows 11 drivers. It will be a challenge but not impossible.

You lost me on the gpu drivers part.
Also, NVME Drivers exist via an update you can Bundle to the ISO with NTLite, no need to backport Win10/11 drivers.

If I find a way to extract the GPU drivers from the installer, I can try to open the Window INF file in Notepad and remove the part checking Windows version. I can then try to manually install the driver from Device Manager. Alternatively I can export the driver from a Windows 11 installation and try to import it in Windows 7. It might not work but I will do it for the experience.
