I have been using CCCP for a while but I recently read that madVR produces a better picture then CCCP for mkv files. I do not really understand what the differences are between madVR, cccp, klite and which one gives the best image quality. What software configuration produces the best image quality for mkv files?

I use Media Player Classic - Home Cinema 1.7.6 with cccp 2014-7-13

madVR is a video renderer. You can choose it (when installed) in the output settings of MPC-HC.

K-Lite Standard is a small pack like CCCP. It is frequently updated and it includes madVR.
