You can remove all of the software that has the name HP in it.

Not all of it - if there are hotkeys/special function keys used by HP, you'll have to keep that around if you want them working. There are usually HP specific forums/boards that have lists of the crap that can be removed - I'd check around to see if there's one for your particular model.

Yea. Sorry! I didn't think about that. I usually reinstall Windows as soon as I make the recovery discs, so I don't ever really encounter this.

How would you delete files from a Vista CD? I assume you mean a Vista installation DVD?

If you want to burn the downloaded ISO to a disk, you need a fresh blank DVD, not a CD.

Rewritable CDs may not be supported as a bootable device as the drive requires drivers that aren't loaded during boot (I know mine cannot boot).

Buy some disks, they're cheap.

You can install windows 7 directly from hdd without the need of any disc or flash drive.
www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/7943-install-windows-7-fast-without-dvd-usb-device.html

But you know what, its a lot easier to just burn a disc and boot from it than to create a partition, store files there etc.

As it says in the tutorial, make your HP Recovery disks first. HP Recovery will sometimes still run from its partition after a Clean Reinstall, but you'll need the disks as backup to be sure.

There is no way a Clean Reinstall will not work when you have the top experts for this here to help you. But follow the steps in the tutorial carefully and ask back any questions as you go.
