Is it safe to watch movies from pen drive?

My pen drive is kingston 4 GB. Video file is 1.2 GB mkv file.

My HDD is dying, so I switched to pen drive.

Is it safe to watch movies from pen drive?

"Safe" from what? What do you want to protect against?

Besides, if your hard disk is dying, seriously consider replacing it as soon as possible.

After 30 mins of slow start up(ofcourse sign of dying HDD) , I plug in the USB and watching it. Right now computer is OK . but my question deals with fate of my pen drive.

This is totally normal activity for the pendrive, I don't see any risks to. All it's doing is just reading some files, which is well within the normalusage patterns for what they're designed. I don't expect any kind of physical damage, and since you're not even writing anything to it, neither a logical problem could arise.

Not necesarily. Slow startup can be caused by other factors too. Do a full chkdsk to confirm just in case.
