I've had an idea for a couple of months now that my pc is on the way out. It shuts down by itself, when sleeping it'll wake in a few minutes, run a few minutes then shut down again .. only to repeat repeat the process. So I've been shutting it down instead, scared. I have shut down the pc and hear the fans still running. I had to unplug it to completely shut it down. Tonight ... or maybe my sound card is going? tonight I was on, it made a noise and the screen went black but had colorful lines thru it. Then it said the monitor didn't have a signal. I plugged the monitor from the video card to the motherboard but it still said no signal so I put it back into the video card. I somehow got it to boot up again and got this error message.

I scan every few days with spybot, malwarebytes and the normal scan.

Thank you

As I'm reading down other related posts, there are a few that mention a game. This has happened to me 3x while playing online Zynga games. Still, the other symptoms don't seem to have a thing to do with games.

It must have something to do with the game. Farmville 2. It just happened again, shut down and then wouldn't turn on. Does the pc shut the power button? After a lot of inspection as well cleaning inside I noticed the button on the pc was in the off position.

When events happen in the game like picking crops and getting products from animals and buildings ... The crops, etc., bounce onto the screen and get larger. That's when I have a problem sometimes, but not all the time the problem is during the game.

Please help. I don't want to buy a whole other pc if I only need a part, but I don't like being unstable and plan to buy a pc this weekend. I need someone to help so I don't need to waste $700.00 when I could have bought a $100 part.

The only dump file from this year (The 22nd of May) is pointing to your display driver,

Code:

And it's from 2012,

Try updating that before you go out buying something.

You can test your video card too, just to see if it is failing,

I'm doing the video card test now. How long does that take? Does it end by itself? I know it says when the temp and artifacts level out to stop test. Where are the results?

After 20 mins the temp lvl'd at 81/82 degrees. The gpu usage was 99%. The fan went from 54 to 80 degrees. I don't know what you need so I'm guessing.

I updated my system specs.

Before I do the graphics problem I need to ask if it matters that the game I'm playing is an online game?

Thank you for your help!

I just suggested the video card test's based on your statements in the first post, backed up by the driver for that being flagged in the only recent dump file.

The test is to check for artifacts OR the temp leveling out.

If you see artifacts, or the temperature levels out, stop the test.

Did you see artifacts?

I'm not sure what you updated on your system specs, I was suggesting a video driver update, have you tried that?

No, it doesn't matter if the game is an online game, you are still using your video card.

These were just suggestions, based on your statements and the driver causing the crash.

They are free options before you go out and buy something, which is what you were asking about.

I'm not criticizing you at all. :( You sound defensive. Sorry if I sounded snippy?

I just updated system specs in case that made a difference with anything. I saw in your sig it said to help by filling them in. I didn't see artifacts, but I will do it again. Did I provide any useful info for you?

Thank you

I wasn't being defensive, although my matter of fact attitude may come off that way without the use of smilies. :)

I didn't think you were snippy either, I just wanted to clarify a few things.

If you didn't see artifacts, you don't need to run that again.

I thought you mistook my comment about updating the driver, and updated your specs instead. We're all clear there now. :)

Yes, you provided useful info, did you try updating the driver yet?

No, I forgot about the driver! I'll get to that now. When do I stop the test for the video card? I see that the log is updating.

For the other test, am I specifically looking for the word "artifact" ?

It said I had the best driver.

Thank you :)

First thing to ask yourself is if you have a perfect install similar to the one compiled in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which is same for retail? Even if you don't reinstall at least apply the tools, optimizations and methods that have worked best in tens of thousands of installs we've helped with here. You'll also have the best install in the world if you reinstall following those steps closely.

If not then work through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 reporting back as you go. Do the Clean Boot and hardware tests first off.

Thanks Greg. I started a new thread a bit ago. I didn't think to go on in this one.
