is my video card COMPLETELY incompatable?

hi, So i have windows 7 home premium (because this computer cant handle the features of ultimate anyway) build 7600 installed on an IBM thinkpad a22m. the video card is an ati rage 128. I have installed winxp drivers, 2k drivers, even 9x. everyperson i ask says its to old (which i choose not to believe) The drivers install, but it just disables them with error code 43. The same thing happend with windows 7 7100, and vista home basic on the same machine.

The troubleshoot button isnt even there, unless im missing it.

ive also tried using add legacy hard ware, but the device doesnt even show up when i do that.

:sarc: He did help. He told you your video card is no longer supported, which is true. Just because you hacked iTunes 8 and WMP 10 to "almost" run under 2000 doesn't mean you can magically do the same with an old ATI Rage driver to work under 7.

Btw, 2000 isn't COMPLETELY discontinued until sometime next year.

I can understand your concern on this matter because I myself had problem with IT8212 SATA/ RAID controller (discontinued by company in Taiwan) during Windows 7 Installation.

But, if new hardware is needed to run Windows 7, then all you can do is to get another card.

For me, I was lucky to find another updated driver for the problem and installed fine. Now Windows 7 is chugging happily along.

In your case, you can pray that you can get the updated driver for the card, or there's a compatible driver which you can use.

Please understand that the forumers are trying to be helpful (and truthful) in telling you where the problem lies.
