Is this a right choice for the Windows 7 hardware?

I want to make a PC with configuration

1. Intel i3 2100 processor
2. Intel H55TC Box Motherboard
3. 2 TB Hard Disk
4. 4 GB RAM.

But I am confused about the Graphics Card, I don't want to buy that, because they will add more cost to my PC. I have limited budget.

Can someone tell me whether Graphics Card is necessary for me or not?

I don't play Games, but I do video editing and use heavy software like Photoshop etc.

Hello there.

If you do video editing and photoshop, i'd definitely suggest 2 upgrades!

1st: processor. use a quad core
2nd: video. use a dedicated GPU

And i just noticed that the motherboard won't be compatible with the processor.

Can you tell us what's your budget? we could guide you into the right direction! :)

Thanks linnemeyerhere,
I have heard that Intel CPU and motherboards are best, and AMD is not so much good as compared to it.
That's why I was asking about Intel.

Total: 445$

The HD6670 is for Hybrid Crossfire and it's not entirely necessary, but it'll give you more video power!
The 2TB HDD is a little expensive because it's not a "green" one (Variable RPM) but a 7200RPM one, there are cheaper choices

I guess you have a PSU/Case and the rest.. mouse, keyboard, monitor.

Punkster, this is a nice configuration. Problem is that in India the components cost a lot more money - up to 50% more from what I understand from my Indian friends.

True! i didn't think about that.. change rates.

Well i guess the solution could be that the OP here goes out to the streets and let us know what he can find and what prices, staying inside the budget.

That way we can tell him the best hardware for his bugdet, how about that? :D

I confirmed that with a local shopkeeper, the hardware suggested by you is not fully available with him.

Here I have attached a Large Showroom's rates for different hardware in my city in India.

View attachment ExattoSoft Computer Price-List Cost2Cost.pdf

Can you please advice me something from here.

I have other things like Cabinet, Keyboard, Mouse etc. I just want to build a nice CPU in my budget.

Thanks.

Ok. i'd suggest this one:

CPU: AMD 3850+ (6428 Rs.) item (14)
MoBo: MSI 75 (5450 Rs.) item (48)
RAM: DDR3 GSkill 4GB 1333 (1142 Rs.) item (80)
HDD: 2TB Sata WD (3500 Rs.) item (64)

That's a total of: 16520 Rs.

The rest is up to you (Case/PSU) and if you already have monitor, speakers and mouse/keyboard. :)

My honest opinion, that'd be my best price/performance configuration.

IF you can gather 1320 Rs. more, i'd totally add an HD 6670 1GB (4800 Rs.) item (117)

But of course, if you can't... you could just add that video card later. it'd give you a lot of video power in a hybrid crossfire for your video/photo editing

EDIT: i'd change the 2TB HDD for a 1TB one (or even a 750GB one), unless you really know that you'll use the 2TB, the difference between both HDDs can give you the money for the GPU. Think about that.

Items 61 (750GB HDD) and 69 (1TB HDD) ;)

A good video card can drastically cut video editing and transcoding times. Since you are not a gamer you wont need a great card, just a good one. As far as value and bang for the buck check on a manufacturer called Zotac. They put out some very good budget priced cards that offer kick butt performance!

True! BUT...

Since i suggested a Llano based PC, Nvidia is not the way to go, and if Nvidia is the way to go, then the Llano would make sense. The idea of building a Llano is having the onboard GPU and the dedicated GPU working together in a hybrid crossfire to increase performance.

It needs an AMD Radeon card, not higher than a 6670 to do the Hybrid.

Since ZOTAC! only builds Nvidia based GPUs :( it won't help the OP.

BTW, i love ZOTAC! i was going to buy it, but at the end, i got a discount with the Sparkle one :D so i went with the Sparkle.

Hi jovesh

I noticed you from Delhi and already visited nehru place...i checked the PDF you posted and i think i know the shop where you went.In my opinion you will get a very good and nice config for 20000 bucks....I suggest search more in nehru place. Some shops give you entire details right from LCD to mobo...But you are correct in looking for hardware yourself and asking here. This forum has terrific members who give you invaluable support. Some dealers in Nehru Place misguide you into choosing not so good and obsolete hardware so be careful...

Let us know if u need more help

Why is OP limited to AMD cpu/mobo/gpu? Tendancy is AMD 4 gamers, Intel 4 business... Since OP isnt a gamer, why not just go with Intel/Nvidia? Both Intel and AMD have budget cpus with plenty of budget mobos to boot. I even bet there are more options if OP were to stick with Intel based CPU/Mobo!
