Solved Is this HDD still usable?

I had a Seagate 3TB ecternal drive, it was starting to give errors when copying to/from the drive, not a lot of files maybe 1-4 files in a group of say 200-300 (mkv or mp4 files), I have done a full format (not the quick option) and then ran HDTune and got this:

The errors consisted of files stopping mid copy.

Nope, that drive has too many damaged sectors for it to effectively copy information across...

Have you checked with Seagate to see if they will RMA it for you? (Guessing not if you've managed to R/W that much)

I wouldn't use it.

Download the Seagate test program (Seatools I think). It probably has 2 tests--short and extended. It may pass or fail.

If it fails either, I'd hope it was under warranty and contact Seagate for a replacement.

Reallocated sector count and retired sector data is the last thing you want to see. The drive has a limited number of spare sectors and you may be in danger of using them all.

It seems that it is running hot. If you can cool it better and reduce it's running temperature, you have a chance that the failures will stop.

Since it's an external, make sure where you place it is not obstructing air flow around it and that it's ventilation holes are not blocked.

Well their still might be a problem.

If you replace the hard drive and put it in the same location in the same fashion the new hard drive will probably get hot also.

I would suggest solving the lack of cooling problem first.
