Solved is this the best way to change the icon of my hard disk ?

Hi

to change the icon for example for an external hard disk or internal hard disk

is enough to create an Autorun.inf file in the root of the hard disk with this code

[autorun]
icon=\CustomIcon.ico

and save the customicon.ico file in the root of the hard disk?

any advises are super welcome!

i would like to use png icon but i guess i can't do it

i would like to have a small program that add an icon on the desktop when i plug an external hard disk/usb stick or mount a truectypt container/partition
and have the possibility to customize the icon

Hello drugo,

That's one of the easiest ways to change the drive's icon, but you would need to use a .ico file since that is an icon file, and a .png is not.

Here is what I use, it all so adds a label:

label=Jerry's LEXAR

Use IcoFX Portable | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives to make your icon from your png.
