Issue with internet connection ( DNS? ) - Asus UL30Jt

Hi,

I’m having an issue with my laptop (other than my main PC in the specs), specs in attach. The problem is kind of weird. On very few wifi places (one of them my former appartment, now Eduroam at school), the internet connection is not working well. Windows saying its connected and "Diag nad repair" option finds no problem, but like half of internet pages are not working, sometimes majority, sometimes minority. Sometimes my Outlook connected through exchange works, sometimes not. Sometimes only frame of the page loads and some images are missing. Other devices are of course working fine at the same time. Tried updating drivers from Win Update, Asus drivers for wifi connection are impossible to download (archive corrupted) but they are 4 yrs old anyway.

My tip is something with DNS is broken, as something works, something not (DNS translation), sometimes something works in one browser and not in other. Any clues on how to fix it?

P.S. 99% of wifi and ethernet connections are of course working for me. But now it became painful as my school wifi doesnt work.

I think it must be somehow linked to what the AP device is or its settings.

Does your school allow you to connect to their WiFi? Usually networks in schools go through specific internal servers to block certain websites (the "internet" connection goes through a proxy server) as well as control the computers on the network so people can't install software without permission. If you don't have the proxy settings you probably won't get an internet connection.

However saying that I recently came across a problem where pages would sometimes load and sometimes not, changing the DNS servers to public ones like the Google DNS and OpenDNS fixed the problem, so give that a shot and see how it goes.
