Solved Issue with media players (WMP and VLC) - Default IME

Hey Everyone,

First of all I want to say thank you for taking the time to read this post.

I've been having issues with my media players -- namely Windows media player and VLC media player.

Any time I try to open them to play a video they stall and then just stay that way. Then I have to hit alt-ctrl-delete and close them down. It's at that point where I see "default IME" under applications (task manager) and see that its not responding. I then close that as well. Keep in mind that there is no BSOD or any PC freezing of any kind.

I have already updated my video card drivers to the latest version.

It's also strange that this happens every time when I change windows' main power options from "high performance" to "power savings" or vice versa and then try to play a video.

I attached my screenshot of the stalling with Windows Media Player. I really appreciate any help. Thank you for your time.

How old is the machine with the issue ?
How long has it been since you've cleaned out the case of dust...

I only built it just 5 months ago. I have dust filters on the machine that are regularly cleaned every 2 weeks or so.

Your system spec's look pretty darn good

Except for one item though AVG :/

Hi,
Well first of all "If" you decide to switch to anything else please uninstall AVG properly

I personally use MSE and mbam pro/ Premium it's done well for me in the last 4-5 years
It really is a very good combo,
There are still life time licenses available for mbam that do not expire worth picking up "if" not too late,
Check Amazon and Newegg,

Thank you for the advice.

I just reinstalled windows and the problem seems have to disappeared, for now. I'll test the computer for 48 hours and then let you know how it turns out.

Hi,

After 48 hours, I can say that the problem is gone for good. Thank you for the advice Thrashzone, I switched from AVG to bit defender antivirus and there is a noticeable difference. I'm going to mark this thread as solved.
