Solved Issue with monitor optiquest q19wb menu

Hi I have an annoying problem with me computer for a couple of months now
when using the monitors brightness menu appears and increases to maximum followed by the contrast even though I am not pressing any of the buttons this seems to be completely random. I have managed to lock the menu but I still get the “osd locked” text appearing at random.
Additional info:

• None of the buttons on the front of the monitor are stuck and work when pressed
• I have tried the monitor on a old computer for several days with no problems
• I have changed the vga cable and dvi adapter
• I have updated the graphic card (Radeon hd 5770 @ 44c when idle) drivers
• Curiously this does not happen when playing games
• I have reset all the image settings to default in ccc
• this problem also happens in ubuntu

i can go weeks without this issue then it suddernly sparks up again
I am out of ideas any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried downloading the driver for it to see if that clears it up.

yes the latest view sonic drivers are installed still happening

I'd say the problem is with the monitor. Is it new? Under warranty?

You could try using the monitor's menu to find and run the "Reset all Defaults" (or similar) option to see if that changes anything.
Also try shutting it off and then unplugging the power from the monitor for 30 seconds or so.

i can confirm this is not a monitor issue i connected my old sync master monitor to the computer and after about 40 minutes the monitor suddenly went very bright although with this monitor the menu did not appear.


I have now removed the ati Radeon 5770 and am using the on board graphics, over 12 hours so far with no problems
