Windows 7 and Windows NT Server

(Redoing whole post)

So I'm on a fresh copy of Windows 7 Professional, and all I'm trying to do is connect to a Windows NT Server computer, but every time I try to find it it keeps bringing up on the network only the computer I am currently on.

I cannot for the life of me, figure out how to get it to recognize other non-Win7 computers on the network.

Any advice would help a lot.

Thanks in advance,
Acme Steve

Acme Steve,
What anti-virus program are you running? Is your firewall on windows NT or 7 on? Also are you in a workgroup environment?

Have questions, just ask.
Hi Steve,

First, try this:

Go to Control Panel>Network and Sharing Center & click on Advanced Sharing Settings.
Make sure that Network discovery is turned on .
Because you are trying to connect to an NT server, you MAY have to change the File sharing connections to enable file sharing for devices that use 40- or 56-bit encryption.

If these are OK, we would need some more information:

I am assuming that you have not set up a Homegroup as Nt will not recognize a HomeGroup.
Are you connecting to a domain or a workgroup?
If a domain, what is its mode ... strictly NT or has the schema been updated to Win2K; Win2K3 or Win2K8?

Have you tried connecting with a fully-qualified domain name? If so, what was the result?

Regards,
BillT
