I downloaded this for w7 64bit.
Xbox 360 Controller for Windows | Microsoft Hardware
I have a game called "Smash cars".I could not get the controls the way I wanted them. All the schemes but 1 are crazy. This game, controls are layed out & you can't edit each button. The 1 scheme that works is ok,but don't like it.All the others, you just get left steering,no fwd,no rev,& when you try to boost the handbrake goes off at the same time.I haven't tried other games yet.Maybe this games just sucks with trying to get a a controller to work right on it.
I tried xpadder also. This doesn't help at all on this game, doesn't change anything.I used xpadder as a last resort.Cause it just acts as a keyboard & mouse.I set the keys shown in the keyboards controls under options in the game to the buttons on xpadder where I wanted the actions.Nothing changed.
What is some good tweaks for 360 controllers for playing pc games?I know it probably depends on the game.

I choose to use a controller, please don't bash on me for that.I spent many hours trying the other route(keyboard/mouse) & well I just don't like it.

I used to use the original xbox controller on the PC and used the user driver "XBCD" made by redcl0ud. It came with a utility that let you re-map every button, axis and slider as you wish and was really easy to use.

I haven't tried it but there is a 360 version here: XBCD Support for Xbox 360 Gamepad

Of course, it always helps if the game has control pad support so you can map keys from there.
