itunes problems

i installed itunes 9 onto my new laptop with windows 7 64-bit... since installation, my laptop keeps crashing and total freeze (no reaction to ctrl+alt+del or num/caps/scroll lock)

i have uninstalled itunes (and reinstalled several times to check!) and the system is only doing it when itunes is present, so i'm guessing its an incompatibilty issue between these 2...

any ideas please guys? thanks

I was having problems, and it turned out that I had installed the 32 bit version of iTunes on my 64 bit OS. Downloaded the 64 bit iTunes, installed, and had no problems.

Has anyone got iTunes to install? I tried to install it and it told me that it couldn't install because there was a problem installing quicktime which iTunes needs to run so I right clicked it and went through troubleshoot compatibility mode and clicked vista as the last working thing and it still wouldnt install :(

Ran into the same problem, applied all of Apple's recommendationsplus other recommendations found in various forums with negative results. Had the idea of creating another new account in Windows 7, having Administrator previledges and iTunes and Quick Time installed smoothly in the new account and could be operated from the old account. Maybe this will work for you and others. Looking for reasons for the problem cause, it was realized that in a short period of time Windows Vista was installed as an upgrade over Windows XP and then Windows 7 was instlled over Windows Vista again as an upgrade. After reinstalling Windows 7 in a clean install, iTunes and Quick Time were again installed without any problems.
