Yeah there was a bug in one of the transistors circuits I seem to remember Gary and they has to recall the boards to fix it.

But to their credit it was fixed faster than they first anticipated - I don't think they will release anything now without some really thorough testing and if the do they are plain fools eh?

Still nice to see they are a bit closer eh?

The CPUs were fine.

There was a problem in the P67 motherboard chipset that might have eventually lead to the failure of one or more SATA ports. (Intel predicted 5% failures after 3 years of use.) Search on "cougar point chipset flaw".

Maybe I will finally upgrade. As it stands now, still enamored with my lowly Q9550 Core 2 Quad. Haven't been compelled to go i3/i5/i7 or SB yet.

Yeah, it was a SATAII chipset on the motherboards not the processor.

(But it was Intel's chipset.)

I never had the problem but elected to take the MB exchange anyway.

Actually PP I got the i5 2500 and it has been just real nice although in hindsight I should have gone the "K" and P67 - never mind will wait for what others think of the IB otherwise I am going for the 2ng gen i5's on a Z68.

Il'l wait untill I suck the life out of my amd board and cpu or until it's not enough for my needs and upgrade to a intel board and cpu For now my amd build is pretty rock solid for my needs. Might change it to a 6 core phenom ii maybe later if i need more horse power or a intel board with a intel cpu like a i7 once they get a bit more affordable for me.

Actually MIG if you are going to go for an Intel if it is for the normal day to day stuff plus a little gaming the i5 cores are just as good and two thirds of the price - normally.

My son has Phenom 1090t and $3K set uo and I reckon my i5 2500 and H67 board knock a few spots of it even with his O/Cing.

But it's horses for courses eh?

I use my pc mainly for 3d gaming,internet and doing some photo editing in gimp. Though The reason I want to maybe get a pheonom ii 6 core is because it is the highest cpu my current mobo can handle and the other way I would have to buy a new mobo and cpu instead of just a cpu but thanks for the tips. The Z77 specs haven't been officially released yet, Z68 is 2133MHz, I'm sure the RAM speed will be the same or a little more.

You can always overclock higher if needed

Hum I'm sort of getting a bit lost with the whole Ivy Bridge issue at the moment there seems to be a lot of stats and articles referring to what will go with what.

I personally am not so sure now that I want to wait for the IB's as the 2nd gen Sandy Bridges look to be more or less "in situ".

I see some refs from other members who are still using and happy with the older Intel cores and boards that accommodate them. It leaves me just wondering if there is going to be any real benefit from having an Ivy bridge build apart from it being latest tech and the decreasing availability of parts for older systems
