Just bought a PC with Windows 8...... can I switch to Windows 7?

I bought a refurbished PC from dell(Model XPS8500). It has a spinning drive with Windows 8 installed.

I would like to remove the hard drive from this system and replace it with a solid state drive, then install Windows 7.

Will this be a problem?

Where are you going to get Windows 7 ? You will need a legit Product Key

In addition on a new Win8 PC you must disable Secure Boot as shown in UpDowngrade Windows 8 to Windows 7

then either install in UEFI mode or Bypass UEFI to Install WIn7

remember even after bypassing UEFI

(i got this problem in my friends HP Win 8 laptop which wasted my 8 hrs )
u need a unique windows 7 image on USB or DVD to confirm it will install and detect all HDD

i try win 7 SP1 iso via usb and Win 7 sp1 with DVD == no work
but I try Win 7 without SP1 via DVD it works
I used win 7 Alienware retail dvd iso file via dvd to install win 7 on that HP8 machine

but experience will be different by machine by machine

u can copy ur old win 7 backup token and restore it to ur Laptop
so u will save 200$

Not only is that "not legal", but it won't work anyway. That will only work if the token is put back on the original PC it was saved from.
